New York Motorcycle & Scooter Routes
New York is a great place for motorcyclists and scooter riders who crave gorgeous scenery and winding roads. With all of our forests, lakes and mountains, we’ve got something for everyone to see. If you’re wondering about where to ride this weekend from Amsterdam, never fear! We here at Outdoor Motor Sports have provided you with one option that’s close at hand and one that will make a better overnight trip below. Check these routes out and let us know how they are!
Adirondack Park (Northville, NY)
The Adirondacks offer you unparalleled beauty, and they’re so easy to get to from Amsterdam! This route is great for both motorcyclists and scooter riders as it doesn’t take any major interstate highways. Just take NY-30 N from our dealership for about 30 miles, then head left onto County Road 5 on the southern shore of Lake Algonquin. In less than a mile, you’ll turn left again onto W River Road, which will take you right into the forests of the park.
If you want a longer ride, continue north on NY-30 and take Gilmantown Road after you pass Wells Edge Country Store. This route, also marked as County Road 16, will take you north towards the town of Speculator and the Lake Pleasant area.
Letchworth State Park (Castile, NY)
Craving a longer adventure? Pack up your gear and head for Letchworth State Park in western New York. It’s a 3.5 hour ride from Amsterdam proper across I-90 W so this route is best for motorcyclists. When you get to West Henrietta south of Rochester, you’ll take exit 46 to I-390 S towards Corning for 27 miles.
Take exit 7 to access NY-408, which will take you to the middle of Mt. Morris, where you will turn right onto N. Main Street, then left on Park Road to access the Mt. Morris entrance to the state park.
Here you can engage in guided tours, admire the Genesee River and its three waterfalls, hike over 66 miles of trails and explore the lush forests of the region. This park is definitely worthy of a day or two’s visit, and there’s something to do here no matter what season it is.
